Baron Gurney Interiors, LLC

Therese Baron Gurney, ASID

Therese Baron Gurney launched her career as an interior designer working for several prominent Washington, DC, design and architecture firms, including that of internationally acclaimed modern architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen. In 1985, she established her own firm. “I design with a modern aesthetic and tailor interiors to harmoniously integrate with the architecture,” she explains. “My firm is small so I can be involved in all aspects of my projects.”

Baron Gurney’s expertise lies in space-planning, lighting design, graphics, custom furniture, millwork design and furniture specifications. She also consults clients on art selection and installment; audio/video and computer coordination; and furniture-system installations. Throughout her career, she has frequently collaborated with architect Robert M. Gurney, FAIA.

Baron Gurney has been recognized with numerous design awards over the years, including multiple Awards of Excellence from the Washington Metro Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers. In 2002, the chapter named her a Designer of Distinction. Her work has appeared in many local and national publications, as well as in the architectural book series Modern Order, and in Robert M. Gurney: Master Architect.
