Clients with a 1970s house in Olney, Maryland, tasked House to Home Solutions with overhauling their dated kitchen in an airy, transitional style. The adjacent dining area boasted French doors, so principal Daniel Carrero and his team removed the wall separating it from the kitchen, “creating an open floor plan and allowing natural light to flow through the space” Carrero explains. Stainless-steel appliances replaced the old ones and the refrigerator was relocated to free up work space.
A backsplash of glossy, gray porcelain tile in a herringbone pattern enhances white Shaker-style cabinetry, quartz countertops and a white-porcelain farmhouse sink. Throughout the main level, the design team matched new and existing oak floors stained a natural hue. WiFi-enabled lights can be controlled via any smart device.
