Andrea Houck’s portfolio offers proof of her dexterity with a range of styles, yet only tells part of the story behind her success. “The skill lies in interpreting the client’s aspirations and bringing them to life,” reveals Houck. “‘Creating spaces you will love…traditional, modern or somewhere in between’ has been our mantra for the past 18 years.”
The design process is an “imaginative, fun journey” Houck and her client take together. That journey often extends to interior architecture. “We can walk into a space and see the possibilities for improving livability and aesthetics,” says Houck. “It might be shifting a doorway or reimagining a fireplace, but we like to take a holistic approach.”A. Houck Designs frequently collaborates with architects and builders on the selections process for new construction, renovations and additions. “We narrow down the sea of choices and develop a cohesive package—while keeping the process moving smoothly,” Houck explains.
Houck’s work has appeared in numerous publications, including Home & Design, The Washington Post and Arlington Magazine. She has participated in show houses for Children’s National Health System and shares her passion on her blog, Creating Spaces.
