After nearly 20 years at some of the finest architecture firms in the DC area, David Benton fulfilled his dream of starting his own firm, Benton Architecture + Interiors, in 2016. While he currently works solo, he regularly partners with experienced contractors, craftsmen, and consultants, with whom he cultivated relationships over many years, to deliver thoughtful and beautiful results. Projects range from kitchen and bath renovations to sizable home additions.

“From traditional to contemporary, I respect the classic design principles of scale, balance and harmony,” he says. “Scale makes inviting and welcoming spaces; balance achieves home designs that are stable and holistic; and harmony allows a home to sit comfortably in its surroundings.”

Benton’s design process begins with “getting to know the client, how they live today and how they dream of living,” he explains. “Having a strong sense of the client’s style, as well as the existing house and surroundings, helps lay the groundwork for a home that will be uniquely theirs.”

From an addition to a 19th-century cottage in Connecticut to the whole-house renovation of a 1950s retro-modern gem in Bethesda, Benton Architecture + Interiors delivers on the big picture and the details to give clients a house that feels like home.
