Though she is the daughter of a furniture maker and an interior decorator, as a teenager Erika Bonnell insisted that she was not destined for a career in the decorative arts. “If you were to ask me if design was in my future, the answer would have been a resounding ‘no,’” reveals the principal of a seven-person interior design firm. “I was certain I’d be a lawyer—but here we are and I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
Founded in 2012, Erika Bonnell Interiors is a small, boutique firm that designs and executes highly personalized spaces centered around the lifestyle and functional needs of its clients. The team is well-versed in large projects, from custom new builds to large-scale renovations and whole-house makeovers.
“We feel our work should reflect the essence of a client’s style and personality. We don’t do cookie-cutter and leave no stone unturned when it comes to getting to know our clients and their expectations,” says Bonnell. “Our innovative ideas, attention to detail and collaborative, hands-on management style help us transform projects into amazing homes.”
By understanding homeowners’ daily habits, Bonnell and her colleagues are able to create beautiful, functional environments that not only reduce residents’ stress levels but also are a source of pleasure and ease. “The intention of our design approach,” the designer avers, “is to set our clients up so they can experience a better way of life.”
