For the past two decades, Mona Hajj has crafted interiors that marry a global vision with an American emphasis on elegance, comfort and simplicity. She launched her firm in 1990 and today employs a staff of six creating designs that are grounded in classical style yet influenced by the contemporary.
Hajj grew up in a Mediterranean culture rich in architecture, history and antiquities, from textiles to art. “My years of traveling and exposure to different cultures taught me to appreciate beauty all over the world, not just where I live,” she reflects. “I think it liberated me in terms of design and style.”
A sensitivity to her clients’ needs combines with an ability to follow her instincts rather than popular trends. “I believe beauty and comfort are equally important,” Hajj says. “I like upholstered pieces to be modern and comfortable while side tables, chairs, lighting, accessories, rugs and drapery are sewn together to create a cohesive end result.”
Hajj’s international upbringing is evidenced by exceptional rugs, antiques and fixtures. “I truly believe in excellent design and quality,” she avers. “When you do it right the first time, it becomes timeless.” Hajj has been listed in Architectural Digest’s Top 100 and on Luxe’s Gold List.
