The son of a travel journalist father and fashion model mother, Patrick Sutton grew up traveling around the globe—and his  experiences inspired his love of beauty and design. After training as an architect, he founded his eponymous interior design firm in 1994, focusing on luxury residences and signature hospitality projects.

“I treat each project like a story that is unfolding,” Sutton  explains. “Our mission is to tell that story through design, attention to detail and quality of execution.” Not only does he approach his work with a strong design vision, but he also brings technical expertise and seasoned communication skills to the table. “I believe my ability to empathize allows me to understand what my clients are looking for and make their projects about them—not about me,” he reflects.

Sutton, who leads a staff of nine, contends that a well-designed home should reflect its owner’s personality, and should balance comfort with invention and cleverness. “The best homes feel warm and engaging while also pushing us out of our comfort zones,” he observes. Among many recent accolades, Sutton received a 2017 John Russell Pope Award for Interior Design and was named a Hall of Fame interior designer in Home & Design’s 2018 Designers’ Choice Awards.
