The daughter of a master builder, Sallie Lord was raised to have a deep appreciation for architecture, history and fine furniture. As a teen, she fashioned displays in her uncle’s antiques shop and fell in love with “the art of putting it all together.”
After earning an interior design degree at Marymount University, Lord founded GreyHunt Interiors in 2009. The firm now has a staff of four in its original Virginia studio; a staff of four in Carmel, Indiana; and one designer in London.
Lord’s longstanding goal has been to provide clients with “livable luxury” design. “We take listening to our clients’ needs to the next level and read between the lines to capture how they want to feel in their homes,” she reveals.
Among many accolades, Lord designed a showroom at the 2023 High Point Market and was selected to mastermind a space in the Indianapolis Decorator’s Show House, the oldest show house in the country. GreyHunt Interiors has been named best design firm by Virginia Living, and Lord has spoken on numerous panels and a podcast.
She proudly supports foundations and charities and plants trees in clients’ gardens to help reduce their carbon footprint. She also gives back to the industry, from speaking to college students about the design field to helping young designers find their way. “The best part of our industry,” Lord enthuses, “is that it is constantly growing and changing—making it so exciting.”
