DAVID ANTHONY CHENAULT
David Anthony Chenault
If David Anthony Chenault could pick one word that was synonymous with his designs, it would be “moody.” Chenault is interested in creating an atmosphere, a feeling, a mood that will make a client’s environment not only visually beautiful, but also full of evocative personality. “I strive to create interior design that is experienced,” he says.
As principal of his own firm with 28 years in the business, Chenault has transformed numerous homes in the tri-state area, as well as memorable residential and commercial projects across the country. He follows the trends and energies of fashion, pop culture and music and resists being categorized and defined by a personal style. Instead, he employs a collaborative and open process by which he creates highly personalized designs that express a client’s aesthetic, lifestyle and vision.
Chenault’s work has been published in Christie’s Great Estates, Home & Design, Washingtonian, Northern Virginia and Architectural Digest. His latest projects include a redesign of the iconic Majestic Café in Old Town Alexandria; Pamplona, the new Spanish restaurant and sangria bar in Clarendon; MIA, an Italian eatery in the landmark 100 King location in Old Town; and La Vie, a new Mediterranean restaurant in the revitalized District Wharf.
