Founded in 2001, Aidan Design creates custom kitchens, bathrooms and built-ins in the DC area. Nadia Subaran, who co-founded and co-owns the firm with senior project manager John Schmiedigen, spearheads a staff of six. “We are guided by the principle ‘form follows function’ to design thoughtful living spaces that reflect the character and lifestyle of each client,” Subaran notes. “We are passionate about the challenges and merits of good design.”
Aidan Design is involved in each project from beginning to end and promotes a collaborative environment, working closely with homeowners, builders and other design professionals to make the process informative, exciting and engaging.
Subaran holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Art and Science and participates on both the Signature Design Suite Design Council and Kohler Designer Advisory Council. Over the years, she has shared her passion for design by teaching inner-city high school students architectonics and serving as an adjunct professor for George Washington University’s interior design program. Aidan Design has participated in four DC Design Houses to benefit Children’s National Hospital. Other organizations that the company has supported and directly engaged with are local Girl Scouts, Junior Achievement Program, The GenOUT Chorus of Washington, DC, Martha’s Table, and A Wider Circle.
