Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects (DGP) was founded in 1933. Today, the firm employs a staff of 15 offering architectural,  interior design, historic preservation, and planning services.

All three DGP principals formerly worked in construction,  learning how buildings are put together and the importance of a  team-oriented approach that values the input of clients, contractors, and craftspeople. One or more of the principals is involved with every project. “Our team incorporates the highest standards of energy-efficiency and sustainability,” says principal Robert Paxton. “Clients appreciate our collaborative process, attention to detail and careful budget management.”

The client is always DGP’s focus. “Our goal is to exceed the owner ’s expectations with a process that clients and team members enjoy,” Paxton explains. “We strive to create dream homes for our clients—graceful spaces tailored to their lifestyle, needs, and budget. Our designs are elegant, with abundant natural light and strong connections to the outdoors.”

In addition to its office in Charlottesville, the firm has offices in Baltimore and Richmond. Projects have appeared in Home &  Design, Architectural Digest, Southern Accents, Town & Country, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Vogue, Southern Living and more.
