Moore Architects

Charles Moore, AIA

At a young age, Charles Moore was exposed to the wonders of architecture through travel and books. His father, an art historian, kept an extensive library that provided the younger Moore with plenty of material to satisfy his curiosity—particularly books on American architecture and the Bauhaus movement. So it came as no surprise that Charles Moore would later study architecture.

Today, as principal of Moore Architects, he focuses on “creating terrific houses that capture clients’ aesthetic and programmatic wishes,” he says. “We always listen to our clients’ dreams and desires for their homes, from the magical to the mundane.”

Moore and his colleagues work with clients through all phases of the design process, from initial concepts through construction, when they provide positive input to inspire the finished house. “We tell clients that the most important day of the project is the last day, when all of the ideas are tested,” says Moore.

The firm, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, has designed more than 350 custom homes. Widely published locally and nationally, it has won many design awards over the years, including a custom-home award from Professional Builder Magazine.
