Since 1981, brothers Kevin and Steve McHale and their team of talented landscape professionals have designed, constructed and planted extraordinary residential gardens throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Their versatile design-build firm encompasses four in-house trades—landscape, masonry, carpentry and maintenance—with capabilities that range from renovating a Georgetown courtyard to creating a formal country estate or private backyard retreat.

McHale Landscape Design combines landscape architecture, horticultural knowledge and field experience, using a team-management approach throughout the design-build process. With six locations including a 40-acre private nursery and three design studios plus a professionally licensed and certified staff that includes six registered landscape architects, skilled craftsmen and artisans, McHale can make dreams a reality. The company’s process includes the client as an important part of the team. “Our approach is collaborative,” explains Steve McHale. “We listen to clients’ needs and dreams, then transform them into functional and beautiful outdoor gardens and living spaces.”

McHale Landscape Design has received 410 Landscape Contractors Association (LCA) Excellence in Landscape Awards, 29 National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Awards of Excellence, 30 National Environmental Improvement Awards and four American Horticultural Society Awards. “Our focus is simple,” says Kevin McHale. “To be the single source for a residential design-build project from inception through implementation and aftercare, developing life-long relationships with our clients.”
