A self-described “modern traditionalist,” Pamela Harvey designs interiors that are polished, functional and sophisticated for both residential and commercial clients nationwide. Her first love—fabric and fashion—inspired her to create “interesting design elements” in her own home and then for friends and family. Ultimately, she turned her “hobby” into something more, which then led to a degree and a new career in interior design. She founded her firm, Pamela Harvey Interiors, in 2000.

Although Harvey calls her style “livable luxury,” her approach is decidedly more pragmatic, based on her own life experiences. “From raising my children, having every type of pet possible and entertaining often, I intuitively comprehend how to put a home together for a busy family, empty nester or someone who loves to entertain,” she reflects.

Harvey and her team of six work closely and collaboratively with clients to “deliver the best of both worlds—a home that meets the needs of daily living while also being somewhere you could host a wedding or other special gathering,” she explains, noting that she loves the process of getting to know her clients and designing spaces that are expressions of their “diverse and uniquely different lifestyles.”

Her favorite projects, Harvey says, are those “where we can start from the ground up. I love all the details of a good design project, from the electrical plan to the kitchen cabinet elevations.”

Harvey frequently participates in charitable events supporting a wide variety of causes, from the Red Cross to Children’s National Hospital.
