Walnut Hill Landscape Company

Michael Prokopchak, ASLA

Raised in Harwood, Maryland, Michael Prokopchak was born with an innate curiosity and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. During high school, Prokopchak took drafting classes and worked at a local plant nursery. His love of the outdoors and affinity for design eventually inspired him to study landscape architecture at Temple University. In 2006, Prokopchak founded Walnut Hill Landscape Company with a mission to create distinctive residential landscapes in Washington, DC, Maryland and on the Eastern Shore.

Today, he and his team of licensed landscape architects, designers and project managers collaborate closely with clients, delivering a high level of craftsmanship and service from concept to completion. “Every great project starts with a vision,” explains Prokopchak. “We develop close working relationships with our clients to ensure that we capture the essence of their desires in bringing their dreams to fruition.”

In addition to landscape design, Walnut Hill provides control and oversight of all aspects of its projects, from hardscape, lighting and pool installation to tree and soil management, irrigation, and structural engineering. “Crafting outdoor spaces of unsurpassed quality is a highly collaborative effort, achieved through constant dedication to personalized service,” says Prokopchak.

A recipient of numerous awards over the years, including a Judges Award from the National Association of Landscape Professionals, Prokopchak was named Landscape Architect of the Year in Home & Design’s Designers’ Choice Awards.
