Martha Vicas discovered her creative side later in life after spending years in international finance. She was inspired to become an interior designer following the renovation of her family’s own home. “When I embarked on our renovation, I found the process both maddening and thrilling,” Vicas recalls. She honed her skills at the New York School of Interior Design and founded her firm, M.S. Vicas Interiors, in 2001.
She and her staff of five approach all projects with a fresh eye, working closely with each client to refine a vision that suits their aesthetic and physical needs. “Our goal is to create timeless, elegant, livable interiors that enhance the way people experience their homes,” explains Vicas, who views each project as a partnership.
The process begins with a thorough discussion of clients’ goals, needs and desires. From creating meticulous architectural plans to the selection of furniture, fabrics and finishes, she and her colleagues are detailed-oriented and results-driven.
Spending extensive time abroad has informed Vicas’ design approach over the years. “I’m an obsessive observer of art, architecture, color and texture and have been fortunate to be able to travel widely,” she reflects. “I bring a finely tuned sense of color and scale and a broad global aesthetic to interiors.”
