Aidan Design

Nadia Subaran

Aidan Design creates custom kitchens, bathrooms and built-ins throughout the Washington, DC, Metro region. Founded by senior designer Nadia Subaran and her late husband, the firm includes a staff of five “committed to the principle that form follows function,”  Subaran notes. “We are known for thoughtful living spaces that reflect the character and lifestyle of each client. We’re passionate about the challenges and merits of good design.”

Aidan Design is involved in each project from beginning to end and promotes a collaborative environment, working closely with homeowners, builders and other design professionals to make the process informative, exciting and engaging. “Working within existing spaces and transforming them into something modern and functional while preserving or creating architectural integrity is what challenges and excites me the most,” Subaran says.

She holds a bachelor of architecture degree from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. She has served on several design councils over the years including Kohler Design Advisory, Thermador and Signature Kitchen Suite Design Council. Over the years, she has shared her passion for design by teaching architectonics to inner-city high school students and serving as an adjunct professor for George Washington University’s interior design program.

Aidan Design has participated in four DC Design Houses to benefit Children’s National Hospital. Other organizations that the company supports are the GenOut Youth Chorus, Interwoven Congregations, Jevaia Foundation and Jubilee Association of MD. During Fall 2021, the team and its partners celebrated its 20th year in business by donating the design, materials and installation of a community kitchen to Faith Presbyterian Church in Southwest DC.
