Large Bath: Second Place

Slate Design & Remodel conjures a serene retreat

The dark, dated primary bath in a Warrenton, Virginia, home had lost its luster. So the owners enlisted Slate Design & Remodel to transform the space into a bright, tranquil retreat with spa-level amenities. First, the designers gutted the previous bath—step-up whirlpool tub and all. Then they outfitted the large room with a “tricked-out” shower offering myriad spray options along with a soaking tub set on a carpet of decorative tile. Plenty of storage—including a double vanity opposite the shower and a corner cabinet—keeps clutter at bay. A glamorous crystal chandelier crowns the finished space.
