The gallery traces the evolution of Rothko’s oeuvre through some 100 finished paintings on paper that are unfamiliar to critics and the public. Ranging from early watercolors to monumental oils and acrylics, the works are only a fraction of the museum’s vast Rothko repository—all of which is viewable online and about to be published in a catalogue raisonné.
