Clients with a vacation home on Hilton Head Island wanted to channel a little of its casual beach vibe in their permanent residence in McLean. During a renovation of the main floor by Bowers Design Build, they requested neutral, calming tones in the new kitchen—along with more practical changes: increased cooking and entertainment space, better storage and a central island where the family of four could gather for quick meals, homework or just to keep the cook company.
Because the owners rarely used the formal spaces in the house, Bowers converted the large living room into an intimate combination dining and sitting room. The former dining room and kitchen were combined to create a spacious, well-organized kitchen that answers all their needs. Crystal Cabinets are topped with Calacatta Valentini polished quartz. A ceramic backsplash by Roca Tile, satin nickel hardware and Circa Lighting pendants complete the space, which conveys the serene, understated feel the owners desired.
