Tired of their cramped, inefficient kitchen, Baltimore homeowners turned to Smithouse Design + Build for a modern overhaul that would respect the property’s 1920s provenance. Designers reconfigured the main level, creating a spacious kitchen in the former dining room. The kitchen boasts an oversized island topped with Calacatta Lincoln marble, which also appears on the backsplash. Appliances are hidden behind panels of custom cabinetry; pendants by Rejuvenation lend an industrial edge. An adjacent scullery features additional storage and prep space. A hydronic heating system is concealed beneath white oak flooring in a herringbone motif.
