During a home renovation in Cockeysville, Maryland, Smithouse Design + Build was tasked with creating “a jewel box powder room off the main entry,” recounts project manager Shawn Saffran. 

The bathroom redo proved challenging, as the door’s location prohibited installing a full vanity. Thinking outside the box, the design team opted for a salvaged walnut slab with a live edge that could be cut to fit the space; stained ebony to match the walnut floor, it’s paired with a white vessel sink.

The walls are clad in a blue-and-gold paper and the ceiling painted in the same moody-blue hue. Gold-leaf sconces complete the space.
