A backdrop of Farrow & Ball’s dusty-pink Setting Plaster on cabinets makes a feminine statement in the kitchen, which features floating stone shelves and a La Cornue range.

The Anthony Wilder team and Corley collaborated on a chic bar area boasting custom cabinetry painted in Farrow & Ball’s Brinjal. The Highland House sofa faces a custom ottoman.

The light-filled living/dining area flows into the kitchen; a seating enclave anchors the room with sofas in Dedar alpaca fabric and a custom coffee table.

For the breakfast nook, Wilder fabricated a banquette and Corley selected its Nobilis upholstery. The table is from DWR and the chairs are by Maison Louis Drucker.

The airy dining room is a multifunctional space where Julian Chichester chairs and a Galerie Glustin chandelier combine with a Highland House table that doubles as a desk.

A design team reimagines a Georgetown condo in bold, vibrant fashion

Ready, Set, Remodel - Case Study

Scenic views and loads of light persuaded an attorney to purchase an 1,800-square-foot Georgetown condo. Envisioning improved functionality and refined finishes, she tapped a trusted design team to remodel the space: Anthony Wilder Design Build, which had orchestrated the redo of her previous abode; and Amie Corley, a St. Louis designer who is also her best friend.

Guided by the condo’s rules and limitations, Wilder architect Sean Mullin and his team revamped the interiors while Corley introduced color, pattern and whimsy. The kitchen was overhauled and a peninsula added that connects it to the dining area. The powder room was reimagined and doors throughout were lacquered to a mirror-like finish. Chic lighting and custom brass registers contribute to a playful yet sophisticated vibe. “The client wanted a space that would feel personal,” recounts Mullin. “Those details really elevated the project.”

Renovation Architecture: Sean Mullin, AIA, Anthony Wilder Design Build. Renovation Contractor: Charlotte Donati Etheridge; Jonathan Lopez, Wilderworks for Anthony Wilder. Interior Design: Amie Corley Interiors.

Ideas You Can Use
  • Have your contractor communicate with the building manager to understand what’s load-bearing and what can be done structurally.
  • Focus on functional needs for the kitchen and bath before aesthetic ones.
  • Know what’s permitted: Condo remodels are limited by the materials and construction of the building and what neighbors will allow, so do your homework.
