High Style: Travel

A historic factory in Hudson, New York, is transformed into a chic wellness hub

New York’s Hudson Valley has long been a destination for historic architecture, farm-to-table cuisine and wellness. All three merge in the recently opened Pocketbook Hudson, a 46-room boutique hotel housed in an 1883 textile factory that went on to produce ladies’ purses in the mid-20th century. Designed by New York architecture firm Charlap, Hyman & Herrero, both public spaces and guest rooms highlight exposed brick, custom furnishings, antique rugs and contemporary art. An Argentinian restaurant, Ambos, specializes in open-fire cooking. There’s on-site shopping, too, from vintage resale to high-end fashion and home goods, though the biggest draw lies across the hotel’s grassy courtyard. A soaring, 6,000-square-foot space contains The Baths (above), a dreamy spa for hotel guests and locals alike featuring a 100-degree pool enriched with Amagansett salt, a steam room, cold plunge and more. Rates start at $260 for a studio room with a queen bed. pocketbookhudson.com
