Luxury homebuilder Gulick Group designs an enclave that emphasizes the natural beauty of the landscape

Back to Nature

March/April 2010

When Gulick Group began developing the concept for a new enclave community in Great Falls, Virginia, they had a strong vision. “We wanted it to be a peaceful retreat, an island protected by trees and green space,” says Jamie Gulick, director of sales and marketing. With that goal in mind, they approached the site preparation and theme of Autumn Wood with extra care, preserving the existing trees, supplementing the greenscape wherever possible and, as Gulick describes it, “respecting the natural contours and character of the land.”

The result of their efforts is Autumn Wood, a community currently underway on Georgetown Pike that will be marked by a naturalistic approach to land preparation, gracious high-end hardscape, serene walking trails and a boardwalk through the community.  Five different models will be available; each will reflect a contemporary take on traditional Colonial architecture and all will offer gourmet kitchens, luxurious master suites (some on the first floor), open main-level floor plans for easy entertaining, and fine fit and finishes throughout. Homes will range in size from 5,000 to 6,500 square feet with all-brick exteriors; they will be sited on one-acre lots.

The Autumn Wood property, which Gulick Group purchased in 2007, is one of the last large tracts in Great Falls that is zoned for a single-family subdivision. “It’s really one of the last conveniently located communities in Great Falls,” says Gulick, “and we’re taking great care to do it right.”
