When a couple decided to tear down their existing home and rebuild, they hired Kane Landscapes to overhaul the property.

They requested a landscape plan with space for both intimate and large-scale entertaining. They wished it to enhance and complement the traditional aesthetic of their new house, which is prominently situated on a corner in downtown Vienna. During the process, principal Josh Kane and his team demolished existing stone walls and protected large mature oak trees, implementing substantial remediation to meet storm-water runoff requirements; compost absorbs heavy rains, preventing water from entering the town’s storm-water system. Kane Landscapes designed and constructed a pool, deck, patio and pavilion. An existing shed at the back of the yard became an attractive pool house housing a bathroom.

Design Features

• A curved deck breaks up the lines and angles found in the house and landscape
• The pavilion visually reduces the look of a large retaining wall that was required close to the pool
• A dingy shed at the back of an overgrown garden got a new lease on life as a pool house
