The home’s primary bedroom is perched within the tree canopy, providing a panoramic view across the creek while also creating a peaceful haven for the homeowners.

Spa Creek House’s waterside facade is defined by the primary bedroom and cedar-clad volume that appears to float over the expansive light-filled living room.

What or who inspired you to become an architect?
Alick Dearie: I’ve been passionate about design for as long as I can remember. In elementary school, I sketched athletic shoes. Later, I turned to designing cars, drawing from my father’s Road & Track collection. At 14, I discovered Fallingwater and realized I could design entire buildings. I was all in!

Tell us about a recent project you’re most proud of and why.
Justin Obringer: We have a home under construction along the South River near Annapolis. While significantly larger than our previous residential projects, its striking form and material palette are balanced by a restrained scale, allowing it to settle naturally into the landscape rather than dominate it.

How do you integrate sustainability into your work?
Brian Grieb: Sustainability is an integral part of every project. We prioritize solar orientation, natural ventilation, and high-performance building envelopes to create homes that are inherently efficient, comfortable, and responsive to their environment.
