After a fire, the Annapolis Yacht Club is reborn

When the Annapolis Yacht Club—long a fixture on Spa Creek by the bridge to historic Eastport—was gutted by fire in 2015, architect Leo Wilson, AIA, of Hammond Wilson was tapped to rescue the devastated landmark. “Fortunately, the structural frame remained largely intact,” Wilson reflects. “With its iconic nature and location, it made sense to take it back to its original form—elements that could be improved became the focus of the effort.” In 2019, the project won an AIA Chesapeake Bay award.
