Before: the lackluster bath.

Now, instead of two disjointed vanities, the space features seamless custom cabinetry with his-and-her sinks.

Sea and Sky

Wrapped in swaths of blue onyx tile, the wet room of this luxe Maryland bath evokes ocean waves

“I believe that true luxury is livable,” says interior designer Lynn Madyson. That concept is apparent in the pièce de résistance of this Millersville, Maryland, bathroom renovation: a European, spa-style wet bath that incorporates both tub and shower in an eight-by-eight-foot glass enclosure.

After an extensive gut job, Madyson combined the existing bath with adjacent small spaces including a linen closet to create a bigger footprint. Now, instead of two disjointed vanities, seamless custom cabinetry with his-and-her sinks fills the wall directly opposite the wet room.

Reminiscent of sea and sky, lively blue porcelain tile covers the bath and shower walls, extending across its feature wall and continuing out onto the bathroom’s floor. “A half-wall parallel to the bathtub allowed hardware to be wall-mounted, while creating an elegant surface to hold a candle or a glass of wine,” notes Madyson.

Other amenities include heated floors, satin brass hardware, a TOTO toilet and Visual Comfort lighting.
