Formerly a screened porch, the four-season sunroom boasts a vaulted ceiling and waterfront views.
At a waterfront property along Broad Creek on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, a long-neglected farmhand’s cottage was reimagined as a 1,200 square-foot guest retreat by MPR Architecture. “Rather than demolish and rebuild, we worked within the existing shell, honoring the site’s agricultural heritage while introducing a contemporary spatial sensibility,” notes architect Michael Rouse. Opening up the roof structure created a cathedral-like atmosphere with spaces dedicated to farm-to-table cooking, tranquil views and quiet contemplation.
